I recently was given the opportunity to review the Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil for free in exchange for my 100% honest and unbiased opinion on their product.
Well if your like me and have never heard of Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil before I am so happy to be able to inform you on the product and the benefits it has. Now I have heard of coconuts before, coconut meat and milk but never heard of Virgin Coconut Oil. So when I had the opportunity to receive a jar of Tropical Tradition I was so excited to what I could do with it.
Let me tell you a little about the Virgin Coconut Oil: Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is certified organic & traditionally made. This coconut oil meets our strictest standards and is made by hand and benefiting families in the rural areas of the Philippines where the coconuts grow. (borrowed from their website)
This Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is a truly unrefined coconut oil. This coconut oil is made on Mt. Banahaw and surrounding areas from organic coconuts. Coconuts are used fresh (within 24-48 hours of harvest) from small family farms on Mt. Banahaw and other rural places in Quezon Province, the coconut capital of the Philippines. Only the highest quality coconuts are hand-picked from each harvest. The volcanic soil of Mt. Banahaw makes these organic coconuts some of the most nutritionally rich coconuts in the world! Testing done in independent laboratories on coconut oil antioxidants reveals higher levels of phenolic antioxidants than other coconut oils. The fresh coconut meat is shredded (wet milled), and then cold-pressed using the water from inside the coconuts to make coconut milk. The milk is then allowed to sit for about half a day, while the oil naturally separates from the heavier water. The oil is then filtered from the curds (coconut solids). No chemical or high-heat treatment is used, and this oil contains no trans fatty acids. We do NOT mass produce this oil. It is made by families who are coconut farmers using old-fashioned traditional methods that have been used in the Philippines for hundreds of years. Our coconut trees and family producers are certified organic according to strict USDA standards. The families who produce the oil are also trained according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards and re-certified each year. This high-grade Virgin Coconut Oil has a long shelf life due to the high antioxidant properties. The Gold Label Standard is our highest standard for Virgin Coconut Oil. (read more here)
So besides cooking with it I wanted to try baking with since I have never baked with a coconut oil before. I really did not know what to do so I visited their site to see all the recipes available. After looking several different ones I finally decided on the Easy Energy Bars because I have recently started to walk every night after dinner and though this would be the perfect thing for me. I have to say that I am pleasently surprised with how easy they really were to make and how yummy they were too.
Now that I know about this product and the benefits that it has, it is definitely something that I will continue to use in my recipes and in my home. I fully recommend this for all who like to cook and bake with all natural products, but who would also like to try new things. The jar that I received is the Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil Certified Organic 1 Quart (32 FL. oz.) glass jar Retail: $40.00 Now! - $29.50. To purchase your very own or as a gift click HERE. I have heard of Coconut oil, but not sure if the brands I know of are virgin. Thanks for sharing because I had never heard of this company before either and I have been looking for a good coconut oil to try a homemade deodorant recipe.
ReplyDeleteI love coconut oil! It is one the of the best to cook with! Did you know it is even great in your hair as a conditioner? I tried it, it worked! I need to do it again actually! I am going to have to look for the brand. I love that it is from a family farm!
